We always look forward to sponsoring the Walk for Babies event. This year’s event was at the Ocmulgee National Monument in Macon, GA. It was great to see all the teams lined up dressed in their colors and company t-shirts. There were moon walks, Wii stations, cotton candy, snow cones, face painting and tons of fun all to benefit March of Dimes. The ambassadors for this year were twin girls Walker and Hayden Tom. Thanks to Jennifer Simmons and the entire Central Georgia March of Dimes staff for putting together such a wonderful walk. Here is a fusion video from the event. Enjoy!!
Halloween weekend was a very exciting weekend for Exodus Photography. It was exciting because we had our grand opening, ribbon cutting, wine tasting, welcomed trick or treaters, captured the awesome Michael Jackson tribute by The Phillips Performing Arts Group, and gave out gift certificates. The thing that brought joy to our hearts was how people of all nationalities, ages, status, etc. came together to dance. What better way to end the night than with dancing. WHEW!!!!! We’ll just let you see for yourself. Enjoy!
I recently had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Open Source Photo South workshop (http://ospsouth.com/) in Macon, GA. This 3 day event was hosted at iNward Studio by Neal Carpenter (www.inwardstudio.com/) and Heather Mason(http://www.khmasonphotography.com/). There were many great moments at this workshop that stood out, but these were my personal favorites.
Faith and Family
I was proud to hear many presenters talk about their faith in God and the importance of family. Each presenter shared personal moments in their lives that showed how important it is to have a life outside of photography. In times like these it seems that God is not talked about, but to hear many profess their faith was very reassuring.
Relationships
I loved hearing Amber Holritz (http://www.holritzphotography.com/) and Liana Lehman (http://www.lianalehman.com/) share very powerful moments of their connections with clients that went beyond business. Many people think business is about getting customers in and out and on to the next clients, but business is about building relationships. Not only should we develop relationships with clients, but with other photographers. Liana touched on points about photographers sharing challenges they are facing in business with other photographers. I am proud that in the Central Georgia area, I have found some great friendships with photographers who are willing to sit down to share problems but also solutions.
Technique and Hands on shoot
Through out the workshop we were shown many styles and techniques to broaden our horizon. Joe Dallas (http://www.jkdallasphotography.com/) demonstrated lighting techniques to use at receptions and full sunlight. We were able to tryout some techniques in downtown Macon. I could not wait to give this a try. Even though I was not able to shoot with strobes in every lighting setup it was great to see everyone having fun. I actually put some lighting techniques in action in some recent sessions. I cannot wait to post them on the blog.
To sum it all up, I had a great time. There are so many people to thank for pulling this together from the presenters to the behind the scene logistics that we did not see. Thank you to all who played a major part in bringing OSP South to Macon, GA. I look forward to chatting with you online.
We traveled a short distance to Atlanta, GA to witness and capture the baby dedication of little miss Christina. The dedication took place at the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his father were once pastors. It was a wonderful feeling to watch Christina be lifted high in the air like baby Simba on The Lion King as her parents, family, and friends were witnesses. We were so honored to capture this day. Here are a few images from the dedication. Enjoy!!
We were proud to be the photo sponsors for the March of Dimes walk in Houston County, GA. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The March of Dimes carries out this mission through programs of research, advocacy, community service and education. The March of Dimes is here for all babies. In Georgia alone, one in every seven babies is born premature. We had a fun filled morning or walking, running, and dancing with music provided by Douglas Productions. We even had a moment where were danced to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Here area a few images and video from this great cause. For more information about The March of Dimes contact Community Director Jennifer Simmons at 478-743-9165 or 478-338-4591 or email at jsimmons@marchofdimes.com.
